Sanborns Madero
Overview
Mexico City's downtown area is home to many old, historic and iconic restaurants, shops and landmarks, and Sanborns Madero is undoutedly part of that group. The restaurant, is popularly known as Casa de Los Azulejos (Tile House) and is as we just mentioned one of the most emblematic buildings in CDMX's downtown. The house turned restaurant is covered with talavera tiles handmade in Puebla with blue, yellow and white designs, Mexican quarry stone was also used with a churrigueresque design and the beautiful railings that adorn the balconies and corridors were made in Japan.
Today, the Casa de los Azulejos is one of the Novo-Hispanic palaces that are still standing and whose interior can be visited, and luckily you can also grab a drink or eat something here while enjoying this historic landmark and the traditional food on the Sanborns or simply take a photo inside or outside the premises.
